Why Massage?

  • Holistic approach to SEMP: Holistic Healing focuses on the awareness, treatment, and strengthening all aspects of the human being. This includes physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual balance. Rather than treating an isolated area, I work with the entire energetic system to increase healing and release pain. Using traditional massage techniques and Reiki energy, I work with the client to recognize, understand, and release what is needed to open up the body for optimal movement and range.

After Care

In the event that you experience bruising or swelling post-treatment, please use a cold compress for the first 48 hours. This can be applied throughout the day in 15-20 minute increments. Following the 48 hours, you can begin to apply hot compresses a well. Epson salt baths are also recommended to help flush and detox the body as well as restore the heart and mind. Plenty of water is also encouraged to flush out toxins released throughout the massage.

*Please note- a deep tissue or fascia release treatment may be uncomfortable but it should never be painful. Please be sure to communicate concerns or pressure issues with your practitioner during the treatment. This includes feedback on whether the pressure is ‘too light’ or ‘too deep’. The treatments should leave you feeling rejuvenated, energized, and more positively aware of your body’s needs.

During deep tissue is used to relieve stubborn or chronic pain. The muscle and connective tissues (fascia) tend to get stuck together resulting in knots. A lot of pressure is required to loosen and release the knots. The more intense pressure can cause bruising and swelling to occur post-treatment. Similar to the bruises left following a Cupping treatment, Fascia release rolling treatment will likely result in bruising and swelling. The reasons for this are:

Ruptured blood vessels- a collection of blood under the skin or muscles collects at key points during treatment. Swelling may also occur where deep tissue pressure was applied.
Medical conditions- some people are more prone to bruising than others. There are several medical reasons including, but not limited to, thin skin, fragile blood vessels, age, genetics, vitamin deficiencies, and bleeding or causing diseases
*bruising or swelling may be present 1-3 days following a treatment. The bruising is often results from the lactic acid being flushed from the congested tissues. Suppressed emotions and mental limited beliefs will also surface during treatment which can result in increased sensitivity.
